Prayer Pal

a Biblical thought...
But Jesus' priestly work far surpasses what these other priests do, since he's working from a far better plan. (Hebrews 8:6)

a Book thought...
People who are happy are people who are part of a struggle or mission that is bigger than themselves. (p188 Sayers)
a Dave thought...
When the Junior Soldier signs their Junior Soldier Promise, they are presented
with a Junior Soldier Badge. Throughout the program they will stand with the
support of their Prayer Pal. The Prayer Pal is a person of the Junior Soldier's
choosing who promises to pray for their Junior Soldier at least five times a
week, taking special interest in their spiritual development.
On Sunday at Box Hill we celebrated Junior Soldier renewal day, a time when all the current Junior Soldiers stand up and recite their JS promise and rededicate their lives to God. As part of this process the JS Prayer Pals are asked to accompany them, for which I am one for Kevin. Although it is a big commitment, it also a privilege to be able to pray for Kevin regularly and be in part responsible for his spiritual growth. I am a huge fan of the Prayer Pal concept and have often suggested we can use a similar system for our youth and young adults in our corps as well. Having someone we know is with us on our spiritual journey is certainly helpful and assuring for us all.

Just a thought.
