Auskick

a Biblical thought...
And I keep praying that this faith we hold in common keeps showing up in the good things we do, and that people recognize Christ in all of it. (Philemon 1:6)

a Book thought...
By understanding our future home as a spiritual locale out there in space somewhere, we miss the finale to the whole story of the Bible. (p139 Sayers)
a Dave thought...
One of Noah's favourite times of the week is Saturday morning at 8.30am. This is the time that Auskick starts over at Surrey Park and it normally just happens to be very close to 3 degrees Celsius! Auskick is the junior Aussie rules footy program that operates for 5 to 10 year olds where kids learn how to kick, handpass, and mark. One of the strengths of the program is the fact the parent remains there throughout the morning, as no matter our interest level we certainly all learn something about football but most of all we are encouraged to participate in our child's development. As a result yesterday we were outside practising and measuring Noah's left foot drop punts, which have now reached 12 metres.

It seems in our society we are always interested in programs where we can drop our child off and let others do the teaching rather than being involved ourselves. May be it is just that we have other things to be doing or we just need a break, but I'm sure the more we can be around and involved in the education of our children the better off we will all be.

Just a thought.
