Leadership

a Biblical thought...
God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God's Word. We can't get away from it—no matter what. (Hebrews 4:12-13)

a Book thought...
Jesus does not ask us to give up our lives and surrender our wills. He tells us that by giving up our wills we will gain life. (p163 Sayers)
a Dave thought...
LEADERSHIP is an elusive quality. In any area — be it the boardroom, the factory floor, parliament or the sports field — a leader is the exemplar par excellence to those in his or her charge. Being in such a role is incalculably smoother when the going is easy. The true test is when the going gets tough.

Many of you will be aware of Eddie McGuire, the president of the Collingwood football club. This week he has had, what many believe to be the hardest week of his life as he has had to deal with numerous player problems and suspensions. Being in charge is sometimes fun, but often it is hard work, but I have discovered that the best leaders are found during the tough times not when things are going smoothly. Many leaders inherit a good corps, or club or institution that has been set up well be their predecessor and this can make them look like a good operator for a time, but this means to me that they are merely a manager. The true leaders can lead through times of turmoil and take people to a better place no matter the challenges they face.

Just a thought.
