Sydney Youth Band

a Biblical thought...
This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there's not a trace of darkness in him. (1 John 1:5)

a Book thought...
Everybody is following somebody. Everybody has faith in something and somebody. Therefore we are all believers. (p20 Bell)
a Dave thought...
Last night in the Melbourne City Temple a small group of us gathered to hear the Sydney Youth Band. This band formed in 2001 by Major David Godkin the DYS at the time and included youth from four divisions in NSW. They put on quite an incredible show with a lot of new music and had a lot of fun doing it, which was really evident by those of us in the audience.

Some have the view that brass bands are maybe past their best days in the Australian Salvo scene. I though must admit when they are done well, with music people can relate to, they still have the ability to gather over 30 people in one space on a regular occasion and therefore have kept many of us drifting away from the church, as we were connected with a solid group of believers. Bands also have the capability of being taken outdoors and because of their mobility can share the gospel with people anywhere at anytime, which of course is the reason William & Charles got on to this good thing over 100 years ago in the first place.

Just a thought.
